Geely Galaxy E8

2026-09-30 18:40:00

The Geely Galaxy E8 is the flagship all-electric executive sedan under the Geely Galaxy brand. Built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, this key model is engineered to penetrate the mainstream B+-segment EV sedan market with cutting-edge intelligent connectivity and a high-performance electric powertrain system.

Vehicle Overview

Featuring a "flowing light" design language and a highly digitised cabin as its main selling points, the Galaxy E8 serves as a technology showcase in Geely's new energy transition strategy.

Market positioning: Executive all-electric sedan, intelligent flagship, SEA architecture showcase, full-stack 800V high-voltage platform.

Dimensions & Design: Measuring 5,010 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, and 1,465 mm tall with a 2,925 mm wheelbase, the vehicle adopts a sleek four-door coupe profile with a drag coefficient as low as 0.199 Cd. Inside, the cabin's centrepiece is a world-first 45-inch 8K borderless smart display integrated with AI large model interaction technology.

Core highlights: Powered by the synergy of the SEA architecture, an 800V high-voltage platform, and the Qianli Haohan intelligent driving system, the E8 sets top-tier industry standards in charging efficiency, handling stability, and advanced driver assistance experiences.

Development History

Background: Following the establishment and upmarket push of the Geely Galaxy brand, the Galaxy E8 officially debuted in early 2024 as its first all-electric flagship sedan. Drawing design inspiration from the "stellar universe", it was crafted to build a strong technological moat for the brand in the mainstream NEV market.

Key milestones:

Early 2025: The Galaxy E8 received an annual model refresh, standardising Geely's unified "Qianli Haohan" intelligent driving solution across the entire range.

2026 status: Incorporating end-to-end AI models and world model technologies, the system has seen substantial upgrades in active safety, automated parking capabilities, and proactive in-cabin interactions, serving as a vital foundation for Geely Galaxy's global and intelligent expansion.

Market Performance

Competitive landscape: Within the RM150,000 to RM200,000 price bracket for B+-segment sedans, the Galaxy E8 holds a clear competitive edge with its executive-class dimensions and class-above equipment, including a 45-inch 8K screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, and a 23-speaker premium audio system.

Market reception: Owners have widely praised its ride comfort and high-speed stability. Despite intense segment price competition, the Galaxy E8 has maintained a solid market share among young families thanks to its strong perceived tech value. Its infotainment voice assistant, "AI Galaxy Genie", has received particular acclaim for its multimodal interaction and logical responsiveness.

Core Technologies

SEA Architecture: Endows the car with high-performance chassis engineering while supporting ultra-fast charging and optimised thermal management. Powered by the 800V architecture, it can achieve a 30% to 80% state of charge (SoC) in just 8 minutes under optimal conditions.

Qianli Haohan Intelligent Driving: Geely's unified ADAS suite integrates high-spec LiDAR and an array of sensors. It supports Highway/Elevated Navigation on ADAS (NOA), over 300 automated parking scenarios, and features end-to-end data closed-loop capability, backed by extensive real-world safety validation.

Smart Cockpit: Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset with Unreal Engine 3D rendering, the 45-inch 8K display delivers fluid UI interactions. The system also supports exterior voice control, two-way satellite communication, and multi-device remote vehicle telematics.

Powertrain Lineup: Available in single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD, 250 kW) and dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD, 475 kW) variants. The AWD variant delivers exceptional 0-100 km/h acceleration, while the multi-link independent rear suspension setup achieves an optimal balance between sharp handling and supple ride comfort.

Future Plans

As of 2026, the Geely Galaxy brand stands at the nexus of international expansion and an aggressive product cycle. For the Galaxy E8, key strategic priorities include:

Democratisation of advanced ADAS: Rolling out high-tier automated driving capabilities to entry- and mid-spec variants via over-the-air (OTA) updates, broadening the reach of the "Qianli Haohan" system.

Overseas market expansion: As part of Geely's export roadmap, the Galaxy E8 and its derived variants are slated for homologation and market adaptation in key European markets over the next two to three years, meeting local green regulations and tech demands for premium electric sedans.

Technology roadmap: Leveraging Geely's advancements in solid-state batteries and next-generation high-efficiency electric powertrains, upcoming facelift iterations of the Galaxy E8 are poised to deliver enhanced real-world range efficiency and improved cold-weather performance.
